This Lawyer's Qualifications to Represent Those Persons Accused in Charleston South Carolina

You may very well be here for the purpose of learning more about DUI and criminal law. You might also have come here in the course of selecting a lawyer or suggesting a lawyer for a friend or family member. If so, you need to know as much as I can tell you about me.

I do not write wills or close real estate deals. I am a criminal defense lawyer. All my experience during and since law school has been in the area of criminal justice.
Considering this, I sought and obtained board certification as a specialist in criminal trial advocacy awarded by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.

During law school, I was a law clerk for the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office in Columbia, South Carolina.

After law school, I was commissioned as an FBI agent and served in the Miami Division.
I remain a member of the Society of Former Agents of the FBI.

In 1980 I moved to Charleston where I now live and practice. After moving here, I have held positions of assistant solicitor (state prosecutor), Charleston City Prosecutor and Municipal Judge before entering private practice in 1986.

I am a founding member of the National College of DUI Defense and a founding member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

I am a member of the South Carolina Bar and am admitted to practice in the United States District Court for South Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

I have represented federal clients locally and in Charleston, West Virginia and Atlanta, Georgia.

I am lead chair, death penalty qualified and have handled five death penalty cases.

I have lectured on legal topics by invitation in Charleston, Columbia, Atlanta, Las Vegas and other cities.

I have argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals sitting in Baltimore, Maryland.

Client matters I have undertaken range from DUI to murder and many offenses in between.
